YNW Melly, a rapper from Florida, was in the news about a month or two ago for murdering two of his friends, YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser. He and another associate, YNW Bortlen, tried to stage the murder to make it look like a drive-by shooting, committed by another group of people. In the process of doing so, Melly and Bortlen shot up their own car and took the victim’s to the hospital. Melly is back in the news and is facing the death penalty according to TMZ and HotNewHipHop. A song Melly wrote while he was in jail previously called Murder On My Mind, was one of the songs that sparked Melly’s fame which led to questions about the legitimacy of the lyrics. Here are some of the lines from the song:
- “I didn’t even mean to shoot ‘em, he just caught me by surprise.”
- “I reloaded my pistol, cocked it back, and shot him twice.”
Melly plead not guilty in court, and some reports are saying that the court was using his lyrics against him. Other reports say that Melly is mentally ill, which could’ve helped him in the court process. But nope, he’s facing the death penalty as of today April 22, 2019.
